Frequently Asked Questions

CLINIC FAQ’S

Can I visit the clinic in person?

Yes you can. In addition to our virtual clinic, we do see clients in person. Wherever you live, if you are willing and able to travel to us, we can see you face to face. Clients can visit from anywhere in the World at our bespoke clinic, in Long Eaton.

How do I book a clinic appointment?

You can give us a call or email us. Please ensure we have confirmed your appointment by phone, text or email in reply before arriving.

Can I bring someone with me to appointments?

This depends. Due to the nature of our setting and to protect privacy and health and safety we must limit the amount of people in the clinic area at one time. It may be possible in certain cases depending on what the appointment is for. Please always check with us. We will always do our best to accommodate. Where possible though, we ask that you attend the in-person clinic appointment alone as at present we do not have a supervised waiting area or creche facilities. (If you are being dropped off and later collected, that is of course totally fine). If you are attending a group appointment where you and your partner / friend / family member are both having treatments in consecutive appointments or indeed together then of course this differs and will be explained at the time of booking. Online Appts – we usually ask that you attend alone so that we may achieve as much as possible in the time we have available. If in doubt please just check with us 🙂 We aim to please.

Why are some treatments available as a one off booking when others are in a programme?

It has often taken a long time for a client to become unwell and therefore the healing journey can take a little time for things to get back to normal. There may be difficult challenges, barriers or obstacles to overcome, they can be diet, lifestyle, exercise, mindset, work, peer pressure and so much more but I am here to support you with those moments. I am dedicated to helping you achieve the success and happiness you want and deserve but there is no one cap that fits all when it comes to healing. Although I have witnessed some amazingly fast recoveries considering the issues at hand, everyone is an individual and so are the symptoms and issues they present. It all depends on how complex your situation is, how committed you are, how you respond to the treatment plan or therapies and any adjustments we need to make to suit. It will also depend on whether we are working alongside other practitioners or doctors and their plans and timescales. In my experience, especially with long time issues,  I have found that one off appointments are not able to provide the best options and services overall and therefore do not yield the best results. Short term issues or a one off problem may benefit however. Of course with individual therapies for maintenance and prevention one off appointments are also available. Whatever the situation, you can be sure to receive my best, I will be your support and accountability partner and we will work together to best achieve your goals. I look forward to seeing you blossom into your best self. x Blessings.

Can I just book for Maintenance / Prevention / Relaxation?

Yes you can. In fact we encourage it. Maintenance and preventative care is a large part of Naturopathic medicine, so if you are generally in good health and just need a general check, tweeks with diet plans (or entire changes), massages and therapies for fitness or relaxation, natural aesthetics to feel good or address issues, cooking / shopping guidance, a meditation class or anything else you think I may be able to support you with, please get in touch. The best way is to book a free call and we can have a chat and get you booked in. If your situation requires care beyond my expertise I will naturally recommend or refer where it is necessary.

There is one spot for parking on site, otherwise parking is on nearby roads. Bus services also stop nearby and the train station is only a seven minute walk away.

What will happen at a Clinic appointment?

If you book in for a specific therapy e.g Aromatherapy or Sports massage as opposed to a coaching programme, you will need to have a therapy consultation before the therapy is carried out. This will happen at your first appointment just prior to the commencement of the treatment. If it’s your first time at the clinic we would ask that you arrive ten minutes early to fill out necessary forms. In any appointment it’s good to arrive five minutes before so we can start on time.

What happens if I am late?

If you think you may be late we would ask that you please let us know as soon as possible and let us know the time of arrival so we can assess whether there is sufficient time to carry out the treatment or whether rebooking will be necessary.  If you do arrive late please note that it may mean we cannot carry out the full length of the treatment.

This is a free 30 minute call to enable us to get to know each other and for you to discover a little more about Kindbodyplanet and our services and how we may be able to support you. We understand that some topics in our chat and throughout coaching are delicate but you can be assured that careful consideration and measures are in place to ensure your privacy and confidentiality. Coaching - What can I expect?

Following a free call, you will receive health and lifestyle questionnaires and a food diary to fill in which will need to be returned 48 hours before our first appointment. These will then be analysed in time for our first Consultation. Transformational health programmes can be offered online via webcam (google meet or similar) or in person. I may ask you to take certain tests (if needed) to help identify the problem in more depth. I will encourage and support you to create the life you really want, empowering you throughout your health journey with one to one weekly coaching calls, ongoing accountability, resources, information guides and so much more. I will guide you towards healthier choices in mind, body, spirit, lifestyle and nutrition aspects, as well as your connection to self, others and the planet. I will always consider a holistic approach looking at the ‘’whole person’’. You can book per session, in a pay as you go fashion or take advantage of our discounted extended programmes. They are currently 4, 8 and 12 weeks in duration. First thing to do would be to book an initial free call and then we can decide together what is the best pathway for you. What Is Naturopathy?

Naturopathy or ‘nature cure’ is a philosophy, lifestyle and holistic healthcare system that has, as its principle, the healing power of nature and recognises the vital energy that should be present in all living things. When this vital energy or life force has been depleted, damaged or is missing, dis-ease, deficiency, imbalance and disharmony emerge. Naturopathy seeks to redress the balance. Naturopathy therefore is considered by many a system of care which emphasises the body’s intrinsic ability to heal and maintain itself by encouraging and promoting the body’s own self healing mechanisms. It is not so much a modality in itself but an approach of healing that uses a variety of modalities.  Naturopathic medicine relies not only on hundreds of years of medical tradition; it also incorporates the latest related medical research.

What is a Naturopath?

A Naturopath is a natural based holistic health care professional, whose aim is to work out how best to support each patient towards wellbeing – whether physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually or energetically by looking to identify and address the cause of the clients presenting symptoms, rather than simply treat the symptoms themselves and to then encourage and promote the inherent self healing power within that individual. A Naturopath will seek to address the underlying cause of the health issue by focusing on treating the whole person, realising the mind and body are inextricably linked.  Symptoms are reactions to, and/or signs of, deeper problems and when the cause is not identified and removed, symptoms can reappear and are often compounded. A Naturopath also seeks to empower individuals through education around key subjects such as diet, nutrition, lifestyle and exercise, amongst others and will therefore look at these in consultation alongside other concerns. In addition a Naturopath will take a detailed look at an individual’s medical history, sleep patterns, intolerances, deficiencies, or excesses and may well include other factors such as relationships, mindset and more in order to best formulate a supportive, bespoke care plan for the individual. At Kindbodyplanet we also take into consideration your relationship to the environment and planet.

What training and expertise does a Naturopath have?

Naturopaths are often experienced in multiple modalities with extensive training in a variety of methods taking many years, enabling them to draw upon many different options and combinations of care, tailored specifically, each and every time, to the patients needs. They are very often in ongoing training and continued professional development to stay up to date with changes and advancements in both the allopathic and natural medical world as well as with the specific governing societies and codes of conduct they are associated with.

Common modalities for a Naturopath can be (but certainly not limited to) Diet and Nutritional Therapy, Detox Programmes, Homeopathy, Tissue salts, Fasting, Superfoods, Purposeful Supplementation, Cooking and Recipes. Herbalism and Flower remedies. Body and Energy work therapies such as Physical Manipulations, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Reiki and Massage of various kinds, Mindset therapies such as Mindfulness, Meditation, E.F.T/ NLP, Journaling as well as Nature Cure, (Use of nature / oxygen / sound / light ) Hydrotherapy (water healing) and Colonics. There are many more modalities. Some Naturopaths will make use of extensive testing and helpful diagnostic tools such as blood tests, Iridology, hair, skin, tongue and nail analysis, food intolerance tests, muscle testing, bio resonance and more.

To see how we can help you, please check out the FAQ on ‘what can you offer support with‘, also check out our Clinic page and therapies or better still book an initial free call.

What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional therapy applies evidence based, nutritional science to support and promote health, wellbeing, optimum performance and personalised, individual care. Much like naturopathy, nutritional therapy practitioners view the person as a whole, realising they are entirely unique and seek to get to the root cause of issues as opposed to only addressing symptoms. They often employ a wide range of tools such as diet, recipes, fasting, hydration, purposeful supplementation, functional / whole foods, dietary and lifestyle coaching. They may include diagnostic / functional tests to assess and identify potential nutritional deficiencies and imbalances within the body as they seek to understand just how these may be contributing to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns so that the most appropriate nutritional support programme can be provided. NT’s may also recommend the use of additional complementary therapies such as mindfulness, meditation and nature cure (amongst others) to support the client journey. This may also involve liaising with other healthcare providers. As nutritional therapy is recognised as a complementary medicine it is therefore equally relevant for those wishing to enhance or maintain their health and learn preventative measures, as well as for those with chronic conditions who would like to be supported by a natural health provider whilst also receiving treatment from allopathic or other qualified healthcare providers. Nutritional Therapists work very well in collaboration with other health professionals. They do not however impart any medical advice, treatment or cure and will always refer you to seek advice from your own medical professional if any worrisome signs or signals show up. The main focus is that of ‘food as medicine’. Therefore Nutritional Therapy focuses on in-depth assessment and supportive, personalised and preventative care to help people reach their optimum health, vitality, wellbeing and weight goals. To see which things we support please visit our FAQ’s or book an initial free call.

Why combine Naturopathy and Nutritional Therapy?

Combining these therapies allows us to draw upon all of the traditional and ancient wisdom and principles of Naturopathy (see FAQS) with the latest evidence based nutritional science. This enables us to utilise a wide range of modalities and provide an all round holistic care model, supporting a wide range of health issues.

What are the Naturopathic Principles?

First do no harm (Primum non nocere)

This means to look for the least invasive and kindest way to treat the client so that it will ignite the body’s innate ability to heal.

The healing power of nature (Vis Medicatrix Naturae)

Given the right conditions the body can heal itself. There is a vital force, a life force which can stimulate and promote healing.

Treat the Whole Person (Tolle Totum)

Recognise the person is unique and take into consideration their individual factors, mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually, energetically, genetically, socially, environmentally and others.

Treat the cause, not symptoms (Tolle Causam)

Aim to get to the root of the problem, identify the cause of illness, instead of suppressing symptoms.

Prevention is preferable to Cure

It is always preferable to prevent illness, rather than wait until one presents symptoms. Prevention of illness and maintenance  of health helps keep the body at optimum functioning, to keep the vital force flowing at its best at all times.

Education (Practitioner as Teacher) – (Docere)

The naturopathic view is that Practitioners should play the role of educator and support the client in their wellness journey by teaching them a better understanding about health and wellbeing. They encourage and empower the client to take responsibility for their own healing, with useful tools and skills to get well and maintain health.
