Affirmations and self reflection for a healthy mind

Affirmations and self reflection for a healthy mind

We know now, more than ever, the connection between mind and body health. They are inextricably linked.  Therefore, It’s hugely important to care for our mental health and wellbeing as much as it is to look after our physical health. So how can we go about that? Well we can start by identifying the negative or ‘not so nice’ things that we allow into our everyday life and set things in motion to turn them into positives.

By simply deciding to make a list of what you would like to do better, you are already taking steps towards loving yourself. Affirmations and self reflection can then help you to stay on track and deepen the positivity, helping you to nourish mind and body.

I believe that what I allow into my system in every way affects how I think, feel, and act. I am therefore mindful of what I allow my mind and body to absorb. Not only the nutrients I absorb but also the situations and people that I choose to surround myself with.

We have all eaten or drunk something that didn’t feel right for our health, or spent time with people or in situations that made us feel uneasy and afterwards wondered why we did.  Sometimes we feel pressured to say no, or speak our truth for fear of something else, but living and being authentic is one of the best ways you can protect and optimise your health.  Be kind to your body and mind and they will thank you many times over in return.

Think about the food you eat, the products you put on your body, the conversations you allow to enter your ears, especially the thoughts that you tell yourself and the sights you allow yourself to see.

Choose wisely who to spend your time with. Be with people who lift you up and make you feel good, who encourage you and support you to become an even better, stronger, more beautiful version of you. Stay away from those situations or people who would make you feel small.

Below are some affirmations to get you going on your self love journey and to help you nourish your body and create a peaceful mind. Write them down, read them out loud, pin them up on your wall or anywhere you can refer back to often. Write your own affirmations as well, that speak to your individual situation. As you choose better nourishment for your body, your mind will become healthier too.

My mind is nourished by what I feed my body.

Food is my source of nourishment; therefore, I eat foods that are loaded with vitamins and nutrients. I limit my intake of foods that, although delicious, have no value to my health. My diet is rich in fruits and vegetables that provide long-term benefits.

My state of mind, spiritually and physically, is directly correlated to the state of my body. I am careful to feed my body the proper nutrition in order to enjoy a healthy mind.

I enjoy high levels of energy because I eat foods that are packed with power. I can stay awake and think on my toes because of the choices I make in my diet. My eating habits set me up for success.

I am careful with what I feed my spirit through my eyes and ears. I avoid negative conversations at all costs. My ears are inclined to conversations of substance and value. I only participate in discussions that build me up.

I turn my eyes away from violence and wrong doing to preserve my spirit. I have the strength to turn off the television or walk away from a negative situation. I feed my eyes the beauty of nature to enhance my inner sense of peace.

Today, I evaluated the input of my diet and habits. I choose to make the necessary changes that place me on the path to success.
